From now on, it's THE Bowling Green State University

The “THE” makes us kind of hysterical.

A few years back, a big university in the middle of Ohio redesigned their logo and informed the world that they would now like to be called The Ohio State University, thank you very much. Being “Ohio State University” wasn’t good enough anymore.

Not sure why. OSU was a lovely enough school without the “THE.” Not as lovely as the school the Whiggy Tease creators went to, but more on that later. There certainly wasn’t any need for “THE.” Adding the “THE” was a solution for which there was no problem.

Having said that, we want our school to add one.

Jim and Mike are proud graduates of Bowling Green State University. Like Ohio State, it’s in Ohio. But it’s better. The students are smarter, the girls are prettier and the main street outside of campus is not covered in a thin layer Taco Bell wrappers, like a park is covered with newly fallen leaves every October, like, say, Ohio State.

Now, Ohio State is a fine place to visit and we have friends and relatives who went there, we certainly don’t have a problem with the place. Seriously, okay? Now get your credit cards out and buy some some of our James Polk t-shirts, okay.

Getting back on track... Ohio State has a “THE,” and we think our school should have one. Why not? It’d be fun, and it would make our Ohio State friends insane.

So, from now on, it’s THE Bowling Green State University.

But some of you already know that. In fact, some of you may have already joined the Facebook group by the same name.

But here’s what you didn’t know… until right now. Whiggy Tease has come up with a line of “THE” items for the future The Bowling Green State University.

There are t-shirts, of course.

There’s clothes for kids, there’s clothes for babies. There’s also a bib.

We’ve also taken the time to come up with buttons and stickers. There's a mousepad, there's a clock, and frankly, we come up with a lot of this stuff in the middle of the night, so there might be swag we don't even know about. Oh, there are also undergarments, for reasons that make no sense to anyone.

The swag will certainly start a conversation. The look is simple, it’s clean. And it’s vague enough not to violate any copyright laws, at least that’s what our lawyers tell us.

So, buy away. Shop until you drop, and have your friends do the same. Try to avoid the temptation to buy THE stickers and plaster them above the words “Bowling Green State University” on campus. Seriously, don’t do that.

But please, buy the stuff and wear it constantly. We’ll be looking for you on campus this football season, and of course, during hockey season.

The Bowling Green State University won the NCAA hockey championship in 1984. The Ohio State University, in contrast, has never done such a thing.
